Souad has a PhD in French Studies with Certificates in Comparative Literature and Film Studies (Emory University); an MA in Cultural Studies and Modern Languages (Sorbonne Nouvelle University); an MA in Foreign Language Acquisition, Linguistics, and Pedagogy (Sorbonne Nouvelle University); a BA in French Literature and Linguistics (Khâgne/Hypokhâgne, Lycée Molière); and a BA in Spanish Literature, Linguistics, and SLA (Lycée Français de Vienne (Austria).

Her awards and fellowships include the Anne Amari Perry Award for Excellence in Graduate Studies (Emory University), an Andrew W. Mellon Graduate Teaching Fellowship (Sorbonne Nouvelle University), and an Erasmus Fellowship (University of Zaragoza).

Souad has held faculty positions at Elysées Langues & Pierre, the Marie Curie University in Paris, Emory University (Atlanta, GA), Dillard University and Bard Early College (New Orleans, LA), Cornell University (Ithaca, NY), and the University of Washington (Seattle, WA). She has taught upper-level courses on French and Francophone literature, culture, and film, including with a interdisciplinary focus on postcolonial, memory, translation and gender studies, or visual arts.

Outside the classroom, Souad enjoys reading, walking her dog, swimming, yoga, performing arts, and watching world cinema or The Great British Bake-Off with her family.
