Samuel J. Timinsky, PhD

Humanities Faculty

Samuel has a passion for history, rhetoric, politics, and debate. He holds a PhD in History (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and an MA in International Studies (University of Washington). 

He has several years of teaching experience across university, high school, and middle school levels, including at The Nueva School in California and the Robinson Center for Young Scholars. He has also won numerous awards, including the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award (2022). 

An experienced speech and debate coach, he has led students to a national championship in Parliamentary Debate (2023), and recently earned a First Diamond Award from the National Speech & Debate Association Honor Society. 

He is passionate about exploring the complexities of prose and text.Â
